Pin Cherry Cabin is a one-room cabin ideal for one or two adults. It’s our smallest cabin, but still has many features to make your stay cozy and comfortable.
Pin Cherry has a queen bed, glider chair, small fridge (with small freezer compartment), kitchenette with single hot plate, utensils, dishes, cookware, coffee maker/filters, toaster and microwave, and a small sink with slop bucket. We provide a 4-gallon jug of water that you can then refill in the nearby spigot when needed.
Pin Cherry is located just up the small hill up from the Office and Wood Shed. Guests use the new (and very nice) shared outhouses just across the Community Campfire area towards the Chapel.
Because of its proximity to our Camp Office/Shop, Pin Cherry guests have Wi-Fi.

Red Cedar Cabin is a 1.5-story cabin that’s perfect for a larger family or group of friends. It sleeps six adults. It’s our most secluded cabin, at the south end of the property. (NOTE: Red Cedar has a 2-night minimum stay.)
[Groups renting the whole Retreat Center can include Red Cedar for an additional charge per night, as it’s just up a small hill.]
This cabin has a large kitchen with dishes, utensils and cookware, coffee maker/filters, toaster, microwave, full-size fridge, and hot-and-cold running water (in the kitchen only).
The living room includes two chairs, a couch and woodstove for cold nights (wood included).
Red Cedar has an attached screen porch with a couple of chairs, and its own campfire ring and picnic table.
There’s a semi-private bathroom area, but no running water. It has a mirror and commode that you’re free to use as long as you clean it thoroughly at the end of your stay! Otherwise there’s a new and very nice private single outhouse just a few steps outside the door.
The half-story upstairs has two semi-private rooms (no door in-between), each with two twin beds. There’s a master bedroom downstairs with a queen bed.

White Cabin is a three-room cabin that’s ideal for a couple, or up to four single adults. It’s also great for a family with one or two older children. (NOTE: White Pine has a 2-night minimum stay.)
One bedroom includes a double bed. The second bedroom includes a set of twin bunk beds.
The third room is a combo living room/kitchen/dining room. It includes a small woodstove for cold nights (wood included), a small couch, small dining table, medium-size fridge, small kitchen area with sink/slop bucket, dishes, utensils, cookware, toaster, microwave, 4-gallon water jug, and coffee maker/filters.
White Pine is in the same building as our Camp Office & Store. Because of that, it’s the only cabin with wi-fi. It’s in a busy area of camp that’s close to the Community Campfire, the Canoe Launch and within a short walk to the Swimming Beach.
White Cabin guests use the outhouses across the Community Campfire area, close to the Chapel.

Silver Maple Cabin is one of two two-room rustic cabins in our Retreat Center area. It’s ideal for a group of friends or a larger family. Can sleep up to 8 people.
One room includes a queen bed, wood stove for cold nights (wood included), full-size fridge, small kitchen with stove, coffee maker/filters, toaster, microwave, sink with slop bucket, dishes, utensils and cookware, and a 4-gallon water jug.
The second room has three sets of twin bunkbeds, dining table with chairs and a couch. There’s a door between the two rooms that can be closed if desired.

Tamarack Cabin is one of two one-room rustic cabins in the Retreat Center area.
It’s ideal for a single adult, couple or small family with one or two very young children.
Tamarack has a queen bed, full-size hide-a-bed couch, small fridge (with small freezer compartment), small kitchen area with stove, utensils, dishes, cookware, coffee maker/filters, toaster, microwave, and a sink with slop bucket. We provide a 4-gallon jug of water that you can then refill in the nearby spigot when needed.
For fall stays or very cold nights, Tamarack has a wood stove. Your heating wood is included (campfire wood is sold separately).

Mitchel Barr is a great-grandchild of Bill and Willie Barr, founders of Okontoe. Mitch has spent time at Okontoe every year since he can remember. As a teenager, he was discipled by Mark and Nancy Patten (previous directors). This experience gave him a desire to build a personal relationship with Jesus and to love and serve those around him.
Mitch works as a mechanical design engineer in the Twin Cities. In his free time, he loves to visit with friends and family and tinker on anything mechanical.
Having been brought up by encouraging parents and skilled mentors, Mitch has developed a broad set of skills that have aided Okontoe’s ministry.
Okontoe holds an important place in Mitch’s heart. It’s where Mitch gave his life to the Lord and where he was baptized in the Holy Spirit. His desire is for others to find the Lord at Okontoe just like he did.
Sharon’s involvement with Okontoe started in 1987 as a counselor for the Discipleship Camps that served junior and senior high youth in those days. She returned in 1991 for another summer of the same.
Later, she married Nick Brodin who had grown up going to DC Camps. They and their three children (and now their spouses and children) and have spent time at Okontoe several times a year ever since.
This is Sharon’s second time on the Board. She leads the Marketing Committee for the ministry and handles the website.
She and Nick live on the north edge of the Twin Cities where she’s a self-employed writer and designer. Besides client work, she enjoys self-publishing books and blogging. They’re both active in their local church, especially in the music/worship ministry.
For Jody Selin, Okontoe is a lifelong legacy. As the granddaughter of founders Bill and Willie Barr, Jody has been visiting these grounds her entire life. In fact, her personal history is woven into the landscape; it was on “The Rocks” across Bow Lake where Ben asked her to marry him.
Today, Jody serves the ministry remotely as the Office Manager. She handles much of the bookkeeping as well as guest registration details.
Jody brings a spirit of care and precision to the office, though her true passion lies in prayer ministry and heart-to-heart connections. Her service is informed by her time on the mission field in Mongolia, where she served for three years with the World Mission Prayer League with her husband and children.
Jody finds deep joy in seeing the Lord’s purposes fulfilled in the lives of our guests, carrying forward the spiritual mission her grandparents began decades ago.
Jerry and his wife Jean live in Stillwater, Minnesota. Their journey with Okontoe began with a vacation Bible school trip to the Indian village, Fort Hope , Ontario. They eventually ended up as full time missionaries to that village. Many of the relationships formed there are lifelong.
Jerry also was an educator for 25 years serving in both Christian and public schools.
Every trip to Okontoe feels like a trip home. He feels like Okontoe is truly a place of God’s presence.
Stephen’s faith began in nature, reflecting Okontoe’s vision of a “Church Without Walls.” As a boy, he experienced God’s presence while his parents hosted a small riverside fellowship. Through youth camping, skiing, hiking, cycling, and travel, he continued to see God in creation—a passion he and his wife, Dawn, still share.
Stephen and Dawn have called Wisconsin home since their marriage in 1984. While raising three children, they felt led by God to adopt a son from Russia, and today all four of their children are married, blessing them with eight grandsons.
As an architect, Stephen focused on church facility planning, helping congregations clarify their vision and purpose.
Life-defining experiences in his thirties deepened his walk with the Holy Spirit. Since then, he has served in diverse roles, from international missions to pastor, while cherishing family, discipleship, time with friends, and now serving a “Church Without Walls.”
Ken has been connected with Okontoe since the late 1980s, serving on the Board for several years, and values the ministry’s impact on individuals and communities.
Since retiring in 2009, he has served as Vice President of Ministry and Housing for Life Rebuilders, a faith-based organization supporting newly released prisoners, men struggling with addiction, and men experiencing homelessness.
Ken earned his BA degree and completed post-graduate work at the University of Minnesota before founding and leading a manufacturing firm that employed 225 people. Over thirty years as the company’s CEO, he also shared his insights widely, speaking and lecturing at churches, colleges, and men’s groups across the country.
Ken and his wife, Sally, live in Rosemount, Minnesota, and are proud parents of six children and grandparents to twenty-two grandchildren. Through both professional and personal endeavors, Ken’s life reflects a commitment to leadership, service, and faith-driven community transformation.
Joel Barr is the first grandchild of Bill and Willie Barr, founders of Okontoe, and has been married to his wife Bridget for nearly 30 years. Together, they have two adult children and a family deeply rooted in the Okontoe community, spending time each year at their favorite spot, the Green Trailer.
Joel works in the automotive industry, where he shares his faith with co-workers, and has served in a variety of ministry roles including worship team, men’s Bible studies, creative director, and stage builder for his local church.
Growing up with parents on staff at Okontoe, Joel experienced firsthand the transformative work of this “church without walls” ministry. He cherishes memories of camp kids, community campfires, fellowship, and discipleship.
He’s is known for his incredible visual memory—don’t be surprised if he remembers you from years ago!
Bridget Barr manages business continuity and crisis response in the healthcare industry and brings a wealth of experience in business management, bookkeeping, and real estate.
She is co-founder of HOPE 4 Youth, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Minnesota dedicated to ending youth homelessness, where she currently serves as Board Member Emeritus. Passionate about giving back, Bridget strives to foster positive environments where youth can thrive.
Her connection to Okontoe runs deep. Her earliest memory is arriving at camp to see 20-30 people gathered around a campfire, singing and praising the Lord, welcomed with open arms and hearts. This experience left a lasting impression, shaping her faith and dedication to community.
Alongside her family, Bridget treasures her time at the Green Trailer and sharing Okontoe with friends and loved ones as a place of refuge, healing, and restoration.
Bob Boddy has been married to his wife, Kim, for over 40 years. They live on a small farm in River Falls, Wisconsin, where they raised their three children. Today, all of their kids are married, have families of their own and live nearby.
Bob and Kim are active members of a small church in Hudson, WI, where they enjoy close friendships and community life. In their free time, they love camping, riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends. Farm life is a shared passion, with days spent raising beef cattle, chickens, goats, dogs, cats and caring for rescue horses.
Professionally, Bob spent most of his career managing projects, teams and programs for large Twin Cities companies. He retired from Medtronic in 2021 and is now “re-fired,” enjoying entrepreneurship through his consulting firm, Crossed Timbers Consulting. Along with their daughters, Bob and Kim also co-own K9-Playtime, a dog daycare and boarding business in Hudson, now celebrating 11 years.
Reflecting on his youth, Bob credits Okontoe’s summer DC camps as a deeply formative and lasting influence in his life.
