Okontoe’s Lease Campsites

Okontoe offers two types of campsite lease opportunities for individuals, couples and families who want to spend more time here and become part of our community.

RV at a lakeside campsite
A summer or full-season lease campsite gives you unlimited access throughout the camping season

As a family-friendly campground and Christian Retreat Center, we offer a quiet, rustic setting surrounded by pristine wilderness. We’re 28 miles up the Gunflint Trail from the lovely harbor town of Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Our Lease Opportunities

RV at lakeside campsite

RV Full Season Lease: $1,800

  • Leave your RV at a designated campsite for the camping season (May 22-October 4, 2026)
  • Option to store your RV at your site year-round
  • Free use of Okontoe canoes and kayaks within the property during your stay
  • NOTE: Campground water is usually turned on Memorial Day weekend, and turned off in early October

Why You’ll Love a Seasonal or Year-Round Lease Site

  • You don’t have to tow your RV back and forth. Your home away from home!
  • You can enjoy our beautiful area as much as you like each season—even the entire summer!
  • You can build relationships with other lease site holders, guests of Okontoe and Okontoe staff.
  • You can be involved in the daily life of Okontoe—staff Bible studies, work projects, community campfires.
  • There are SO MANY things to do in our area of the Gunflint Trail, Grand Marais and Lake Superior’s North Shore. If you love the outdoors, you’ll absolutely love it here as a base camp for all your outdoor adventures.

What Your Seasonal or Year-Round Lease Campsite Includes

RV Full Season Lease:

  • Keep your RV at your designated campsite and use it freely during the camping season. Then store it right there at your site over the winter. (You must carry your own insurance. No private RVs are insured under Okontoe’s insurance policy.)
  • Electric hookup, water (in most sites), RV dump station nearby (NOTE: water in the campground is turned off in early October. You must unplug from your electric hookup when you’re not staying at camp.)
  • Picnic table and fire ring
  • Our staff does the lawn mowing
  • Shower House and outhouses, if needed
  • Small swimming beach (no life guard on duty)
  • Free use of an available canoe, kayaks, paddles, PFDs. (All Okontoe’s canoes and kayaks must be kept on Bow, Quiver and Shoko Lakes. There are several local outfitters that rent canoes to go into the Boundary Waters.)
  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as you follow our campground guidelines (keep reading…)

Our Dog Guidelines:

We know your dog is part of your family. We welcome well-behaved dogs at Okontoe, but do require you follow these guidelines so other campers and lease holders will enjoy their stay, too:

  • Your dog(s) must be leashed or under your firm control at all times. If someone else is bothered by your dog (including other dogs), on the leash it goes (i.e., at the swimming beach or community campfire).
  • Before you bring your dog into someone else’s campsite (even when it’s leashed), get their permission.
  • Your dog isn’t allowed in any of the buildings, including the Cook Shack and the Chapel.
  • Pick up after it/them regularly and before you leave your campsite to go home.
  • Don’t leave your dog(s) unattended in your campsite, unless it’s safely (and quietly) in your RV.
  • Okontoe is surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness, which is habitat for many predators. DO NOT leave your small dog unattended!
  • We reserve the right to ask you not to bring your dog back if it barks excessively or if you’re not willing to follow the above guidelines.

Lease Sites Currently Available

Okontoe currently has 8 campsites designated as Summer or Seasonal Lease sites. Most can accommodate smaller RVs (we suggest a 24-foot maximum). Two of them are pull-through and able to host a large RV.

All 8 lease sites are already reserved for the 2026 season. If you’re interested in a future lease site, please contact us:

We are a Christian non-profit ministry with a campground and retreat cabins. All lease holders agree to abide by our values, including being an alcohol-free and family-friendly property.

We encourage our lease holders to join us for our Saturday evening Community Campfires and Sunday morning Chapel servicesto actively join in the Okontoe community.
